Playing with Online Photo Editing Tool, PicMonkey
May 11, 2012 By Margo Millure 5 Comments
Sometimes my job means taking pictures of grapes. Much more often my job means figuring out how to edit and organize my pictures of them (as well as photos of other things) When it comes to running an online website or blog, it is all too easy to get bogged down with trying every new app and tool that comes down the pipeline. You never know which ones will live up to their promise of being able to "do cool stuff," easy to master and a potential time saver. It seems more often than not, many leave me running for a bottle of Barolo! (or realistically most weekends, something a bit more accessible.) Dealing with editing and organizing the seemingly endless photographs I take and that … [Read More...]

Planning a Birthday Trip for Across the Cafe Table
May 8, 2012 By Margo Millure 4 Comments
Planning a Future Dream Trip to Buenos Aires Using Pinterest This month over on the main site we're discussing dream birthday trips in honor of our monthly cafe chat, Across the Cafe Table, turning one! For my "dream big" fantasy birthday trip I choose Buenos Aires. I've been wanting to go there with my husband, Dave, for years. There. Now that I've picked a destination, what's next? To design that fantasy trip to celebrate a momentous occasion such as a special birthday or anniversary needs wise planning. The Infinity Pool at Four Seasons Seattle
April 27, 2012 By Margo Millure 1 Comment
The theme for this week's #FriFotos on Twitter is pools. When visiting a hotel I always enjoy taking a few shots of a hotel's swimming pool even if I don't have a chance to go in it. I like imagining what it must be like at different times of year and dreaming of going back. So today I am sharing with you one of my favorites in terms of atmosphere that really gets my imagination going: The infinity pool at the Four Seasons Seattle. Located on a rooftop terrace with a view over Elliott Bay, this spot is a mesmerizing year round spot thanks to a fire pit, hot tub and zen garden like landscaping. In warm months I like imagining myself happily spending an hour or two after one of the Four … [Read More...]

Trading a Table for a Song
April 9, 2012 By Margo Millure 3 Comments
Sometimes I am a little envious, but I love it that my husband sends me videos from his iPhone from his business trips all over the world. This is one of my favorites from Tokyo. He was attending a business dinner and members of a symphony who needed to get to an important gig asked if they could have my husband's table. They said yes, but asked for and got the symphony to play a song or two for them in return. Part II … [Read More...]

Lack of Airplane Etiquette
March 14, 2012 By Margo Millure 3 Comments
Recent flying experience for this week's Across the Cafe Table chat over on The Travel Belles main site. Although nothing recent can quite top the instance of seat back wars I wrote about last summer, it seems that every time I fly these days there is a small tale of woe, mostly of the social studies kind, worth sharing. So can everyone buckle their seatbelts? Please? Airplane Etiquette Gone Awry Without meaning to sound like a crotchety old lady, I continue to be horrified at how graceless people seem to be collectively on airplanes. We wave at each other on boats and we don't even have to see each other when in cars. But here on the airplane, the rules of human interaction, … [Read More...]
